The Shining Flycatcher's nest, with three nestlings within. On what was a very hot day, the sun also made things worse by shining through the mangrove canopy, directly onto the nest. The chicks were hot and stressed, as can be seen by the open beaks. I took these images on the Monday afternoon, planning to come back for a follow up shoot on the Thursday. However, on inspection on Thursday, all the nestlings were gone. Either something had taken them or the fierce storm we had on late Wednesday night, that dumped 90 mm ( almost 4 " ) in no time, might have proved too much for the tiny chicks. Sadly !!!
