I happened to see this 1.7 – 1.8 m Coastal Taipan sunbaking on our drive, through our kitchen glass door. Both shots were taken through the open door. Being badly crippled by RA, I could not possibly risk walking nearer to the snake, to get a better shot, in case it went on the attack. I could not possibly outwalk a fast moving Taipan. Seeing it is Australia’s most feared snake and one of the Top Four most dangerous land snakes in the world and we have lost our fully grown Rottweiler to one of them, I was in no mood to exhibit any suicidal tendencies. One does not mess with such a highly venomous and aggressive creature. These are not good shots, being shot against the sunlight, nonetheless, I am happy to have them. I called out to Robert, who just happened to be out with his camera as to what was parked there. He managed to get up and around and shoot down onto the Taipan, with the sun at his back.
